The Sleeping Beauty – A Fairytale Reimagined
ACT I
In a forgotten corner of the realm, beneath shadows and secrecy, the wicked fairy Carabosse stirs dark magic in her hidden lair. Surrounded by her eerie minions, she brews a powerful potion. Her goal: to curse a single, radiant red rose — a flower that will become a deadly trap. With it, she will bring ruin to Princess Aurora, who is fated to prick her finger and fall lifeless on the day she turns sixteen.
Far above, in a celestial realm filled with glowing clouds and golden light, gentle fairies gather. They are angels in disguise, descending from heaven to bless the newborn Aurora. Each brings a gift — grace, beauty, joy, and kindness. The Lilac Fairy, their noble leader, offers protection, vowing to shield Aurora from the curse's full power.
Years pass, and the day of Aurora’s sixteenth birthday arrives. In the royal gardens, ablaze with flowers and sunlight, the kingdom rejoices. Courtiers dance, nobles gather, and the King and Queen celebrate their daughter’s coming of age. Aurora, radiant in a pink tutu, performs a joyful dance with four noble princes, each vying for her heart.
But the celebration is short-lived. Carabosse appears in disguise and offers Aurora a mysterious flower — the cursed rose. Enchanted by its beauty, Aurora accepts. As she dances, she pricks her finger. Panic spreads. The princess falters, then collapses. Gasps fill the garden.
Carabosse reveals herself, triumphant. But before despair takes hold, the Lilac Fairy appears. With calm power, she proclaims that Aurora is not dead, but asleep — and that the entire kingdom shall share her enchanted slumber until a worthy prince arrives.
ACT II
Time races forward. A hundred years pass in the blink of an eye. On stage, cosmic clocks whirl in a magical display of spinning stars and shifting skies — a vision of time itself.
We find ourselves in a peaceful forest clearing. Village girls gather, gossiping and laughing as they pick berries and flowers. Word spreads of a prince sighted nearby. He soon appears, riding through the trees. The girls dance with him in cheerful mischief. But the world begins to shift around him.
Suddenly, the forest transforms. He is drawn into a dreamlike glade, where the Lilac Fairy awaits. She reveals the tale of Sleeping Beauty and guides him on his path. Together, they journey through tangled woods and overgrown ruins. Carabosse returns, determined to stop them, conjuring shadows and illusions.
A battle of magic unfolds. The Lilac Fairy's light clashes with Carabosse’s darkness — and light prevails. The prince continues forward, finding the castle lost in time.
There, in a chamber bathed in enchanted light, he sees Aurora lying still, her hands folded on her chest. Moved by destiny, he kisses her gently. Her eyes flutter open — the curse is broken.
EPILOGUE
The entire kingdom awakens. Bells ring, music rises. Aurora and the prince, now in love, are celebrated with a grand royal wedding. The palace shines, the court rejoices, and flowers bloom once more.
Thus ends the tale — a story of darkness and light, of courage and love, and of a slumbering beauty who awoke to a new dawn.
