Aliya Tanykpayeva

Aliya Tanykpayeva is an internationally acclaimed Prima Ballerina, teacher and Artistic Director of A-Ballet.
Her career has taken her from Kazakhstan to leading stages in Moscow, Vienna, Zurich and Budapest. Today, she brings this experience into A-Ballet — shaping its artistic direction, teaching students and coaching dancers with the same attention to technique, musicality and expression that defined her life on stage.
Together with Dmitry Timofeev, she is creating A-Ballet as a place where professional ballet, education, performance and genuine care for people belong together.
Biography
Her Role at A-Ballet
As Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Aliya shapes the artistic standard of A-Ballet — from the way students are taught in the studio to the way dancers perform on stage.
As Ballet Master, she works with technique, musicality, interpretation and repertoire, helping dancers understand not only how to perform a movement, but how to give it meaning.
Her work creates a direct connection between the school and the stage.

Aliya believes that strong ballet education should combine professional standards with kindness, encouragement and individual attention.
Students develop posture, coordination, turnout, musicality, strength and classical technique while also building confidence, discipline and artistic expression.
Her approach is simple:

Whether teaching a young child, an adult beginner or an experienced dancer, Aliya looks at the individual person and helps them grow from where they are.
EDUCATION & TEACHING
Aliya trained at the A. V. Seleznev Choreographic School in Almaty and later completed higher studies in choreography and a master’s programme in choreography pedagogy.
Her teaching experience includes international masterclasses, work with ballet students in Seoul and Hungary, and ballet-master and coaching work within a professional theatre environment.
Today, her stage experience and pedagogical knowledge form the foundation of her work at A-Ballet School.
INTERNATIONAL BALLET CAREER
Aliya began her professional career in Kazakhstan before becoming a Principal Dancer with the Imperial Russian Ballet, Vienna State Opera Ballet and Zurich Ballet.
She later continued her career with the Hungarian National Ballet in Budapest, performing a wide range of principal roles in classical and contemporary repertoire.
Her leading roles have included Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Giselle, Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, Kitri in Don Quixote, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Tatiana in Onegin, Manon, Nikiya in La Bayadère, Raymonda and Lise in La Fille mal gardée.
AWARDS & RECOGNITION
Her career has been recognised internationally through distinctions including the Grand Prix at the International Ballet Competition in Luxembourg, the title of Étoile of the Hungarian National Ballet, Best Female Dance Artist of the Season, and the Hungarian Silver Cross of Merit.
She has also appeared in international gala performances, served on ballet competition juries and performed on screen, including in Red Sparrow and as Galina Ulanova in The Crown.
